We wish to present you the proposal for "Air Olympic Games ", games dedicated exclusively to non-motorized air sports like for example: gliding, skydiving, hang glider, paragliding, ballooning, wingsuit flying. These are sports activities that are highly spectacular but are nowadays excluded from the Olympic Games that take place only in the “two dimensions”, terrestrial and aquatic, but there is still no “air dimension”. Nowadays aviation sports see their highest expression at the world level with the World Air Games under the coordination of the FAI (World Air Sport Federation), which are non-standard both in organization by individual states and in the composition of the participating disciplines and, anyway, are not part of the Olympic Charter. In history, the main aviation Olympic project finds its origin in the XI edition of the Olympic Games, held in Berlin in 1936 and to a related initiative carried out in Italy in 1939, in a small airport near Rome, for the choice of the monotype glider, that took the name Olimpia, for the inclusion of unpowered flight in the subsequent XII edition of the games, an edition that was never carried out due to the outbreak of World War II. We understand the ambition of this proposal, as well as the ambition and challenge it entails. The enthusiasm of all the air sports men can be an impetus to include air sports in the Olympic Games, creating a new dedicated session as it is was done for the Winter Olympic Games. the general support to this proposal would be, for all those who love air sports, the successful conclusion of a dream.
